The Big Draw, should be on your bucket list
Key messages are that everybody can draw given the opportunity, and that drawing can bring a buzz of excitement to every setting. The aim is to encourage people of all ages to explore ideas and express their creativity.
Activities show the value of drawing as a cross-cultural, cross-generational tool for active participation.
The Big draw originated in London, where The Campaign for Drawing organized the first edition in 2000. Because of its great succes, more than 20 cities followed their good example. Berlin, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, etc. And finally, in 2013, Ghent turned into a huge drawing event.
I had a great time participating the Big Window Walk. Several artists where given a few windows as a canvas, which created an inspiring and fun 'window route' through Ghent.
Big up for the people who put so much work into making the Big Draw possible. KUNSTWERKT, S.M.A.K. & Circa Gent, I'm looking forward to the next one!
